Die Ebola-Epidemie in der Demokratischen Republik Kongo dehnt sich weiter aus. 1.405 Menschen sind seit Ende April nachweislich an dem Virus gestorben, wie aus Zahlen der kongolesischen Gesundheitsbehörden hervorgeht. Die Zahl der im Labor bestätigten Infektionen stieg auf 3.200 an. Den Behördenangaben zufolge liegt die Todesrate derzeit bei 43,9 Prozent - das bedeutet, fast die Hälfte aller nachgewiesenen Ansteckungen endete tödlich.
